What better way to start a new book than with an appropriate quote? I saw this on Elise’s blog at the start of the year and knew it would be great to add into week 1. I used my quote template that I started for my One Little Word book to give it a ‘Kylie style’.
This year I want to run the week Monday through Sunday. Last year I went from Sunday through Saturday as January 1 fell on a Sunday but I didn’t like splitting the weekend. I padded out my extra pocket with the quote card and I think it works quite well.
Sticking with my simplify philosophy: photos, words, few embellishments. A photo of my new diary, my One Little Word logo card, a January bingo card from Jenni Bowlin and a picture of Simon from Sushi night. A Seafoam title card, a photo of my sleeping Rascal with writing directly onto the photo and the Sushi train from date night with text added in Photoshop.
With the left photo on the top row, I wanted to capture my first day of #21daysofyoga with both myself and my yoga buddy. I used a Paislee Press template (it was a free download last year sometime) and a My Mind’s Eye ‘The Sweetest Thing’ label sticker. The next photo was my planning session before bed of my blog posts and getting my little creative business started. I added a Amy Tangerine ‘Good Times’ Accent & Phrases sticker to write a little note and the date.
Across the middle is simply photos of my new knitting project, my Project Life binders all lined up (spread across two pockets) and my cardboard mat for painting that I used to practice some writing with ink.
The bottom left photo is the table from dinner with friends on Friday night. It wasn’t a great photo with low lighting and it was taken with my iPhone 4. One great way of fixing that is to make the photo black and white in Photoshop. It’s also a nice contrast to the colour all around it. The ‘Details’ sticker is from Snap! Studio and I am in love with these stickers for capturing a lot of information on one little label. The last photo is of a sunset from our back deck. I added the text in Photoshop before printing.
By keeping things simple this came together quickly. I also worked on and off with it throughout the week which helped on Monday morning by only having three pictures to print. I’m going to have to find a better spot to photograph these though, the floor of the studio was a little dark!
